Fall 2004 - From Mary Joyce

This beautiful tribute came with the photo from Mary….

“There is nothing really special about this photo – it’s Bob and my oldest son (far right).  Bob coached all of our kids at one time or another.  This photo was in the fall of 2004.

Each one of my kids would come home after practices or games and say “Coach Cipriano likes me the best on the team”,  OR  “I’m really lucky ’cause coach has me playing the best position on the team”.

Didn’t matter if my daughter was playing down low on the basketball court on his intramural team, or my son was playing goalie on the soccer field – they were Bob’s favorite.

For the first couple of kids, I thought that it was because I had passed on some fabulous genes to my children. (nope)

But as time went on, I realized it was Bob.  Bob made each child feel so special – and no matter what type of athletic ability they had, Bob made them feel very important on the team.

As my family mourned Bob, my youngest son (who Bob coached soccer just last year at Fabian), announced that he had been Coach Cipriano’s favorite on the team.  My oldest son piped right in “What a coincidence, I was Coach Cipriano’s favorite too!”.”

I just smiled, because I knew the mark Bob made on the kids he coached.

  1. God bless you my friend showed me this video i am too going through my fiance having Traumatic Brain Injury On December 13, 2015, Bryan Criales, his sister Carmen, and their mom Elisa were involved in a A tragic/ fatal wrong-way car accident. They were hit by a car driving in a wrong direction on I-95 in Miami.
The accident took life of our beloved Carmen Rosa Criales 23 yrs old and left Bryan and Elisa critically injured. As they were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in Miami. Bryan suffered severe brain trauma leading him to be rushed into surgery one which involved the removal of a part of his skull to alleviate pressure in the brain. He also had multiple fractures in his shoulders, toes, pelvis, and had internal bleeding from the live. He spent six weeks in coma. As for their Mother Elisa Diaz recuperated very quickly, having her son as her only strength.
After waking up from his coma he started recuperating only being able to open his eyes and move his left arm being able to hug his loved ones. He had a feeding tube and trachea to help him with breathing. After 3 months passed all went well and on March 21 went into surgery to replace the part of his skull. Everything went well in the surgery and slowly started to progress. He then was transferred to Promise Hospital where he started doing a little bit of therapy. After two weeks into this hospital he had his trachea removed leading his to breathe on his own, leaving only the feeding tube. Every day was a progress and was wonderful to see him getting stronger.
Currently, he was transferred to Memorial Regional Rehabilitation Hospital where he is doing intense rehab. Since the accident about 8 months later Bryan continues to relearn everything… sitting up, rolling over, eating, drinking, speaking, walking, jumping, reading, and writing… everything. He has a long way to go, but every day he makes a little progress to go back to living his everyday life. Bryan is the strongest person we know and with the power of God I know he will recover from this and be himself once again. The Bryan that we know and love and he will be able to enjoy his life again and fulfil his dreams.
Just wanted to reach out to to you any guidance for us Thank you and I hope you and you family keep staying strong and recovering each and everyday.
